There is such an abundance of summer activity in the area surrounding Retallack, there is no right place to begin! We would love to help you arrange and plan any combination of activities you would like – from water based activities to hot springs, to guided hikes or road biking – you can make Retallack Lodge your home base while you enjoy all that the area has to offer.

Hotsprings

Revitalizing, natural mineral hot springs abound in the area surrounding Retallack Lodge. Soak in perfect comfort, surrounded by canyons, deep forests, flowing rivers, and ancient peaks. Kootenay Rockies hot springs are known for their therapeutic benefits: the mineral content of the waters may increase metabolism, accelerate healing, soothe muscles, improve blood circulation, and detoxify the body's lymphatic system.

Ainsworth Hot Springs

Ainsworth is set along the west shore of the Kootenay Lake, against a backdrop of the Purcell Mountains.One of the best features of Ainsworth is its horseshoe shaped cave – the hottest of the 3 pools.

Halcyon Hot Springs

Sink into the therapeutic waters of Halcyon Hot Springs located north of Nakusp, on the Arrow Lakes. The spring's four pools are a unique combination of sodium, lithium, magnesium, calcium and strontium, and vary in temperatures from hot pools at 41°C/107°F, warm pools at 35°C/95°F, and cooler/children's pools at 29°C/85°F.

Nakusp Hot Springs

A hidden gem found in a narrow canyon of the Kootenay Rockies just outside of the town of Nakusp, Nakusp hot springs' pools are set against an enchanting mountain landscape. The spring's hot mineral waters are piped 1km/0.5mi from Kuskanax Creek, and have an average temperature of 42°C/108°F in smaller pools, and 38°C/100°F in the larger pool.

Golf

New Denver – Slocan Lake Golf Course

On the northern outskirts of New Denver is a delightful 9-hole golf course that will excite lovers of this sport. On a benchland above the Slocan Lake, this course parallels Highway 6 between New Denver and Roseberry.

Kalso Golf Course

Situated on the North Arm of Kootenay Lake, the Kaslo Golf Club is a lovely, picturesque 18 hole course. One of the province's oldest golf courses, it retains much of the basic charm of simpler times.

Balfour Golf Course

This course is a magnificent 6510-yard golfing challenge through lakefront meadows alongside Kootenay Lake and winding up through the forests of the majestic Purcell Mountains.  Stellar fairway and green conditions cap an awe-inspiring golfing experience.

ATV

ATV tours are a great way to explore to the forested pathways, old mining roads, abandoned rail tracks, and mountain-top trails of backcountry surrounding Retallack Lodge. ATVs are easy to operate and tours can be customized to suit various skill levels.

Kayaking/Canoeing/Whitewater Rafting

Boating around the lakes and rivers in the West Kootenays is not only a great way to explore the area, but it’s also a lot of fun. We work with several different outfitters in the area and can custom build a trip to suit your needs.
